Magnetoception

helps untold organisms

to navigate life

Orientation of the birds

Humankind does not

possess this magnetic sense

We try to square up

The Earth’s field is useless to us

We are left to search

for a cryptochrome protein

Something that might help

In eyes, sensitive to blue light

We can only hope

Our wires get crossed kindly

to give a compass

Mapping our way across the globe

As the animals…

Gladly, the plan is benign

we mimic salmon

The Lord knows how we are wired
