Jelly babies

Jelly babies are

glucose babies. They drive me.

Their plumpness and fruit

juices

fill my cells. They wink

before heads roll.


I give thanks


for their sugar and

I think about their citric

acid.

My run starts.

I save the green ones for the

last sprint.

My mouth is starchy.
