Cotton anniversaries are guiding beacons
As imaginary lights show the harvesting
The cracking of bolls overseen by archdeacons
in the field, mallow family plants and cutting
If cotton is a worthy gift for my sweetheart,
then, I acknowledge its comforting hardiness
Its woven threads represent an effective start
Its extension to change and clothe is tenderness
The beauty arises because of fine patchwork
and, sometimes, our cotton threads will produce quilting
Helping you to ascend is life; my needlework
The Lord keeps us strong and dispels any wilting
