The serpent was lime, tortuous
calmed by a stick in upright stance
A viscious spring locked in its jaws
this wasn’t happening by chance
I was in trouble, pinned against warning’s wall
‘Exercise control’
said the somewhere voice, dishing out
instructions
Where was my parole?
Sadly, my senses had no air
Useless and bawling ignorance
failed to warn me, an insipid carcass was coming
Diffidence
prevented me from realising
I would be fine by staying still,
and watching,
as hours were lost
I tried to move the stick with skill
A lunge
My arm
trapped in snake jaws
So sore, I deserved to be dead
Like a fool I disturbed again
So, this time, a bite squeezed my head
All kinds of hateful snaps killed me
I learned to obey my master
He replayed the dream,
I listened
The ending was no disaster
