Kingston event (reading)

Next week, I'm involved in an event organised by Professor Alison Baverstock. This is her advert:

This event on space is part of the Kingston University Big Read Bookclub – takes place on Tuesday 4th October at 5pm.

We are enormously privileged to have contributions from three really significant speakers. Dr Neill Reid works on the James Webb telescope from Baltimore in the US. He will be joining us in person, to share information on the JW telescope, which is taking images and data of space, from space. Dr Pauline Parker, Director of Kingston’s MBA Programme, will be exploring what are the implications of working in/on space for wider academic thinking, in particular across nations and disciplines. The evening will conclude with the reading of a poem written by Dr Stephen Paul Wren, senior lecturer in Chemistry at Kingston. In short, we present a cross-disciplinary event!

The event will be hosted in the Penrhyn Road TownHouse and the huge screen and excellent digital facilities will provide an unforgettable experience. We had a practice last week, with some of the images to be presented, and it’s really hard to get your head around how enormous it all is. It all promises to be a really fascinating evening.
