A flower's stem

With church stonework close to my left,

I sit

Soft musical notes arrest my thinkings

Verities drift in to speak,

I befit,

from near and far; they give gentle inklings

Take care, my son, I am your family

Comfort replaces stained-glass,

the people

in pews, all his children are family

One body like a flower’s stem, sepal

and other floral parts. Longed for peace rests

in my heart and the hearts built everywhere

Prayer finishes, a thought is born that tests

Be thankful, like Paul,

and never despair
